Spiced Turnips with Turnip Greens Recipe - Holistic Wellness and Health

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup Sesame Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 Tomatoes , chopped
  • 3 Turnips , peeled and diced into cubes
  • 1 turnip greens (leaves) bunch, chopped
  • 1 bunch scallions, sliced
  • Salt , to taste
  • Chili powder , to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder 
  • 1 teaspoon fresh Ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves fresh Garlic, minced

 

Directions:

  • In a pan, heat oil. 
  • Once the oil is hot, add in the cumin seeds and mustard seeds and allow them to sizzle.
  • Add scallions, ginger and garlic and sauté it for 2 minutes.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and coriander powder. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Add turnips, mix it well. Cover it and cook on medium low heat for about 5-10 minutes.
  • Add chopped turnip leaves.
  •  Mix well, cover it and cook on a low heat until the greens are wilted.
